If
you currently sweating on a “Device Under Test”, (DUT) you will probably be
aware that random vibration testing process is a critical part of the
testing process to ensure reliability and durability of your product. This
procedure is also applied to all machines and devices to ensure that they will
last the rigors of storing, transporting and handling.
Products
that are usually subjected to irregular pressure and airflow also need this
testing to ensure freedom from contamination, as well as reliability and
durability. Of course, it is very
difficult to determine how much shock should be applied the DUT, because the
amount of pressure used during transporting does not have a fixed pattern and
may involve many possible variables.
The
fact is that testing is a process which can be done badly, or simply “tested”
by going through the motions. That’s simply not good enough, and can lead to
significant, one might say foreseeable, problems. In modern manufacturing,
there’s really no excuse. Shock vibration test systems can accurately duplicate
and monitor multiple variables.
On
another level, custom testing can also provide solutions where standard testing
may not be sufficient for the performance parameters of the product. Custom
testing allows a much broader spectrum of consideration of stresses, vibration
shocks, and impact testing on a truly custom basis, which is not only more
accurate, but infinitely more reliable.
